The jack-of-all-trades among US guitarists.
As a drummer he invented the slowcore with Codeine in 1989, two years later - this time on guitar - he founded the groundbreaking "alternative rock band" Come with Thalia Zadek. With Chris Eckman ("The Walkabouts") and Hugo Race ("The Bad Seeds") as Dirtmusic he combined Americana with African folklore.
With more than two dozen solo releases - from singer/songwriter albums to classical guitar versions of David Bowie and Prince to Ambient - he always finds time for exciting duos, be it with Geoff Farina and Blues, Stephen O'Malley ("Sunn O))") and Drone or Ryley Walker and Noise.
As a sideman he played with GG Allin, Thurston Moore ("Sonic Youth"), Steve Wynn ("The Dream Syndicate"), Evan Dando and Johnny Depp, among others.
He is currently the guitarist of The Lemonheads and plays in The New Year, The Martha's Vineyard Ferries and The Empty House Cooperative.
